Completion date: February 27, 2025
Location: Columbus, OH
Why did the customer contact us?
Angela Rusilli owns a stunning stucco home along the Scioto River, and while she loves its location and character, the old wooden colonial double-hung windows were drafty, inefficient, and giving the house a dated feel. The builder-grade tan color blended in too much and looked tired, the builder-grade steel front entry door was underwhelming, and the sunroom felt dim and closed-off with its old atrium-style door and limited glass. Angela was ready to modernize everything—better energy efficiency, a fresh "iced-out" contemporary look with a bold contrast, more natural light, and smoother operation throughout the home.
Solutions provided:
We replaced all the outdated double-hungs with sleek white casement windows (screens on the inside for easy use) and updated the grid pattern to a clean cross-grid design—simple, modern lines that open up the view without the busy colonial style.
To make the windows truly stand out against her light stucco exterior, we finished the exterior frames in a rich dark bronze (oil-rubbed bronze tone), replacing the old builder tan color that blended in. This creates a dramatic, high-end pop that gives the home a sophisticated, contemporary edge.
The sunroom received a complete transformation: we installed large picture windows all around to flood the space with natural light, swapped the old double doors for smooth sliding glass doors, and added a beautiful French door to the backyard for elegant access and flow.
At the front, we upgraded the builder-grade steel door to a custom fiberglass entry door with realistic wood-grain texture, finished in the same striking dark bronze to match the windows and deliver that consistent, bold contrast. We topped it with updated decorative sidelights and a transom window above for added character and curb appeal.
The result? A brighter, more energy-efficient home that feels completely refreshed and modern—Angela now enjoys superior comfort, lower utility bills, and a standout look with the dark bronze popping beautifully against the stucco. She was thrilled with every detail of the transformation!
